Margaret Kilgo Workshops

Margaret Kilgo presents a research-based overview of the relationship between the state curriculum, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and Student Expectations (SEs), and the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) and End-of-Course (EOC) tests in Reading, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, Grades K-12.  Kilgo covers the components that are critical for effectively teaching and assessing the TEKS/SEs to the depth and complexity of the STAAR/EOC. The focus of these sessions is on teaching and assessing the curriculum, not on teaching to the test.

Testimonials

“Thank you for the many years of training you have provided for Kerrville ISD. This year, we were one of only 26 districts to earn a Distinction Designation for Postsecondary Readiness and among only a small number of districts in the state to receive a personal call from Commissioner Michael Williams regarding abnormally high STAAR and STAAR EOC test performance in relation to our student demographics.  I attribute much of our success to the training provided by Kilgo.”
--Dan Troxell, Ph.D., Superintendent, Kerrville ISD

“We attended our first (Kilgo) training in Oct. 2013. We embraced…and implemented the concepts we learned and our hard work paid off!! Our campus’ State Assessment scores soared: Reading 79% to 90% and Math 76% to 95%…from 2013 to 2014 respectively.  As a result, we earned five stars out of a possible six and distinctions in the following:  Top 25% Student Progress, Closing the Achievement Gap, Mathematics, Reading ELA, and College Readiness….We would like to thank you for helping us find the missing piece we needed to ensure the academic success and learning for each and every one of our students.”
--Dr. Cynthia Wise, Principal, Ned E. Williams Elementary, Longview ISD
